Boeing completed the 750th LEAP-1B Quick Engine Change (QEC) kit, a critical component for 737 MAX operators. The QEC kit streamlines the engine replacement process, allowing airlines to minimize downtime and maximize aircraft availability.

"This highlights our dedication to providing innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers." said William Ampofo, senior vice president, Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain, Boeing Global Services. "We began offering 737 MAX kits in 2017, and the 750th configuration is a testament to the commitment and expertise of our team, as well as our continued efforts to enhance operational efficiency for our customers."

The QEC kit includes an assortment of hardware and components used to build up a spare engine to a service-ready configuration, enabling rapid engine swaps. A QEC-provisioned spare engine enables operators facing unplanned engine removal with the ability to minimize engine build-up and decrease Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events. With growing demand for the 737 MAX, this milestone continues to position Boeing as a global leader in providing essential support to airlines.

Since 2017, 65 customers have purchased CFM LEAP-1B kits. Boeing also offers QEC kits for all in-production airplanes for applicable engine types:

  • 787: General Electric - GEnx-1B, Rolls Royce - Trent 1000
  • 777: General Electric - GE90-115
  • 767: General Electric - CF6-80C2
  • 767 (KC-46 tanker): Pratt & Whitney - 4062
  • 737 NG (Military): CFM - CFM56-7B
  • 737 NG (Military): CFM - CFM56-7B

Boeing continues to invest in advanced technologies to ensure its customers receive unmatched service and support, and remains focused on delivering innovative solutions that enhance the performance and reliability of Boeing aircraft.
