On time, anytime, anywhere. That’s the motto of Kalitta Air, a leading commercial scheduled and on-demand charter cargo carrier based in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Since the beginning of its operations in 2000, the company has continued to expand its fleet, growing to operate a total of 22 Boeing 747-400F and 5 Boeing 777F freighter aircraft. Kalitta Air also offers a comprehensive line of aircraft maintenance services to support other aircraft operators, including airframe and power plant services, engineering services and a tire and brake shop.
To meet the expectations of their customers around the world, efficient and responsive maintenance operations are essential for Kalitta Air. In an effort to further enhance operational efficiency, their maintenance and engineering team recently evaluated options for digital solutions.
Kalitta Air had previously adopted Boeing’s Airplane Health Management (AHM) solution for their 747-400F fleet. They also adopted the Library module of the Boeing Maintenance Performance Toolbox solution, which can be directly integrated to complement the Boeing AHM solution. Based on their direct experience with these solutions in their maintenance operations, Kalitta Air recently opted to utilize both Boeing products to support their entire 747-400F and 777F fleet.
“No one knows Boeing airplanes better than Boeing,” said Connie Kalitta, owner and President of Kalitta Air. “We see a clear advantage in utilizing these Boeing digital tools, backed by that detailed knowledge of the airplanes to support our fleet maintenance operations.”
