flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, signed a multi-year agreement for parts provisioning and Quick Engine Change (QEC) kits to support the all-Boeing flydubai fleet.  These new contracts will enable flydubai to support more efficient maintenance processes and control inventory costs.

With the tailored parts package solution from Boeing, flydubai will be able to reduce their overall costs and assure inventory availability, helping the airline continue to achieve a high level of on-time reliability for their passengers.  A single parts supply base and local distribution network will also help to reduce parts logistics challenges.

The Boeing Quick Engine Change (QEC) kit is an assortment of hardware and components used to build up a spare engine to a service-ready configuration. The kit is configured and packaged to conform to engine build sequence, thus reducing installation time by up to 20% and reducing overall engineering time by up to 400 hours.  A QEC-provisioned spare engine enables operators facing an unplanned engine removal to significantly shorten the time span for an AOG (aircraft-on-ground) event.

“As we begin to see the demand for travel returning, ensuring that our passengers arrive at their destination without delay is of utmost importance,” said Captain Chris Grazel, Chief Operating Officer at flydubai.  “With this agreement, we are confident that Boeing will provide the parts we need to continue to run swift and cost-effective maintenance operations and ensure the readiness of our fleet.”

“Our customers who have adopted the QEC kit service have seen significant engine maintenance cost and time savings,” said William Ampofo, vice president of Parts, Distribution Services, and Supply Chain, Boeing Global Services.  “When you combine that with the extended parts agreement, these two service offerings will help flydubai realize cost savings, more reliable inventory planning, and improved schedule reliability.  Boeing parts solutions ensure customers have ready access to parts whenever and wherever they’re needed, making it possible for customers to keep up with the rapid pace of changing operations.”
