Shortened Type Rating Courses

Tailored training for your experienced pilots

The Boeing Shortened Type Rating Courses are tailored to pilots who have a minimum amount of glass flight deck experience. These courses are an effective solution to continue expanding a pilot's knowledge of additional aircraft models. Courses include ground and flight training delivered by highly qualified instructors who undergo a rigorous certification process to ensure high-caliber instruction.

Ground training focuses on learning and applying systems knowledge through a combination of self-paced e-Learning and procedural training in an advanced flight training device. Flight training takes place in a full-flight simulator, available through our global network of training facilities, or in an airline’s simulator, and includes an end-of-course check ride.

Shortened Type Rating training course details

We offer this course to pilots employed by our current airline customers. This course is designed for experienced pilots with currency on a commercial jet transport aircraft who are seeking an additional type-rating.

  • Experience in turbojet-transport-category Boeing aircraft that use an electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) with an integrated flight-management system (FMS) and autopilot.
  • Experience with turbojet, transport-type systems (e.g., hydraulic, electric, environmental).

Course duration is dependent on regulatory and operator requirements.
