What is Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer?
Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer (VA-PT) is the first modular trainer in the Boeing Virtual Airplane suite, an immersive, accessible, and customizable set of digital tools that help flight training teams make pilot learning more effective, efficient, and engaging.
This module provides high-fidelity procedural practice so flight crews can build muscle memory anywhere — on an iPad, laptop, or desktop computer — and arrive at the simulator ready for higher-value assessment and scenario work.
Why choose Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer
Engaging, realistic learning
Our 3D flight deck simulations, integrated systems and navigation data, and intuitive lesson flow keep students immersed and focused. Whether it’s an interactive FMS/FMC experience or a guided procedure lesson, pilots stay engaged.
Train anywhere, anytime
Cross-platform clients for iPad or Windows PC's (tablet, laptop, desktop) — with offline download, resume, and scheduled sync capabilities — let pilots fit short-form learning sessions or longer interactive lessons into busy rosters, even in low-bandwidth environments.
Easy authoring and rapid deployment
A centralized authoring workspace with templates and packaged lesson deployment empowers customers to create, validate, and push consistent operator-aligned lessons enterprise-wide with minimal turnaround.
Enterprise-scale security and compliance
With Microsoft integration, you can quickly and easily roll out training content across your entire organization — helping you meet regulatory requirements while tracking progress and ensuring consistent delivery every time.
Cost efficient
Move validated procedural practice to personal or portable devices to reduce full-flight familiarization time, optimize simulator scheduling, and lower total training costs.
Who is Virtual Airplane for?
Availability by aircraft
Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer includes OEM-developed standard operating procedures templates you can use turnkey or customize to match your airline’s procedures if you have the Authoring Tool. Templates are regularly expanded and rolled out to all customers.

Frequently asked questions about Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer
How can Boeing’s Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer support my training organization?
Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer delivers short, high-fidelity, device-based lessons and interactive FMS freeplay so pilots can rehearse validated flight deck procedures anytime, online or offline.
By focusing on hands-on procedural practice, VA-PT helps training teams develop procedural competence, build proficiency between checks, shorten simulator familiarization, and improve transfer to Flight Training Device/Full Flight Simulator and line operations.
Operators gain a centralized authoring workspace to create, validate, and distribute consistent lesson content across their programs, plus basic analytics to track student usage and completion. Together, these capabilities allow you to scale consistent, validated procedural practice across devices and locations while keeping flight training aligned to operational procedures.
