Boeing’s latest commercial market forecasts indicate sustained long-term growth across the Asia-Pacific aviation sector (including Northeast Asia, Oceania, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and China), creating significant demand for new personnel and services.
Over the next 20 years, the region will need roughly 1 million new aviation professionals. During that time, aviation services in Asia-Pacific are projected to be worth more than $1.8 billion as fleets expand, traffic increases, and operators modernize their networks.
Key figures include:
Total: ~1,000,000 new aviation professionals
Boeing’s 2026 Pilot and Technician Outlook and 2026 Commercial Services Market Outlook together highlight how Asia-Pacific will continue to be one of the most dynamic aviation markets in the world.
Demand will span the full range of aviation capabilities, including:
Growth is being driven by rising middle-class travel demand, economic growth, tourism recovery, urbanization, airport investment, and the continued expansion of cargo and e-commerce. These factors increase demand for aircraft, workforce capacity, and services across training, MRO, digital services, and parts and distribution.
Boeing’s Commercial Market Outlook projects continued fleet expansion in Asia-Pacific through 2045. Single-aisle aircraft deliveries are expected to represent approximately 78% of the region’s fleet growth, supporting domestic and regional connectivity. Widebody and freighter activity will underpin long-haul travel and cargo and e-commerce growth. This fleet mix reinforces demand for pilots, technicians, and digital predictive maintenance services to maximize fleet availability.
The need for roughly 1 million new aviation professionals over 20 years underscores the urgency of building robust talent pipelines. Operators, universities, training centers, and industry partners must collaborate to recruit and retain talent and to scale training capacity. Key investments will include simulators, instructor development, apprenticeship programs, and streamlined certification pathways to increase throughput while maintaining safety and compliance.
Over the next two decades, the Asia-Pacific region’s services market is expected to exceed $1.8 billion. MRO and parts and distribution services are projected to represent more than 65% of the Asia-Pacific region’s services demand.
Given industry-wide constraints on used serviceable materials and increasing scarcity of parts, investments in inventory hedging, forward-exchange programs, and predictive maintenance capabilities are likely to produce outsized operational and financial benefits by reducing aircraft-on-ground (AOG) risk, shortening shop visits, and supporting residual-value retention.
Boeing Global Services provides capabilities across training, digital services, MRO, and parts and distribution that can support operators as they scale fleets and strengthen operations. Meeting the region’s needs will require collaboration among operators, lessors, regulators, training organizations, and service providers.
